Workforce Development Opportunities for GM Community Pharmacies

The Community Pharmacy Provider Board have been working with theGreater Manchester Training Hubto identify workforce development and support for Community Pharmacy and wider primary care in Greater Manchester.

There are several exciting courses now available through the GM training hub, including leadership, coaching, and clinical training, which are accessible to Community Pharmacists and team members in Greater Manchester.


Primary Care Integrated Development Programme (PCIDP)

The Primary Care Integrated development programme is a fully funded free programme containing a wide range of modules for all Primary Care professionals, including Community Pharmacists and team members in Greater Manchester.

This includes a two-year pick and mix variety of interlinking fully funded educational programmes for all members of primary care, clinical and non-clinical, running from October to September every year, with three onboarding points throughout the year. You will be able to pick and choose your preferred modules as per your preference.

The programme offers a large number of options to support leadership in Primary Care e.g. handling difficult conversations, 2-day coaching and mentoring, time management, Change Management, Culture Change, deaf awareness and sign language workshop. Some modules are delivered face-to-face and some are delivered virtually. The full list of modules is here

There are also clinical modules e.g. Diabetes, Respiratory, Women’s Health, HRT and menopause. There is an extensive list of modules and you can find the full list  here

Some modules are delivered face-to-face and some are delivered online. The pick and mix modules allow attendees to choose as many or as few modules as they wish to do, as per their preferences and needs.

4-day Health Coaching

There is a fully funded 4-day Personalised Care Institute (PCI) accredited Health coaching course from GMTH which is now available as part of the Primary Care Integrated Development Programme.


The Personalised Care Institute is a virtual organisation, accountable for setting the standards for evidence-based training in personalised care in England.


This course is delivered in person and will be split between two sets of 2-day in-person training.

Pilot training pathway for newly qualified Early Career Pharmacist prescribers 2026/27

From 2026, NHS England will pilot a new education and training pathway for newly qualified Early Career Pharmacist (ECP) prescribers. This initiative addresses longstanding inconsistencies in supervision, funding, and training quality across sectors and regions.

What’s new

The core elements for evaluation of the proposed 12-month pathway include induction, revised RPS Enhanced Curriculum, an e-portfolio, learning resources, supervision, protected time, and credentialing. They're inviting employers, supervisors, learners, and partners to be part of this exciting journey.
