CPPE: Upcoming Training Events
Applications open 1 September for the new CPPE Pharmacist Enhanced Practice Pathway for Newly Qualified Prescribers
This fully funded national pathway supports newly qualified pharmacists who join the register as independent prescribers. Developed by NHS England, CPPE and the Royal College of Pharmacy, it provides structured workplace learning and educational support to build confidence in prescribing, clinical decision‑making and consultation skills.
Learners will access a structured induction, online modules, workplace‑based development, educational supervision, workshops and an e‑Portfolio aligned to the Royal College of Pharmacy’s Enhanced
Curriculum. The pathway is open to pharmacists across all NHS sectors, with CPPE providing education supervisor support where employers cannot.
The pilot will offer 1,200 places across two cohorts: applications open in September 2026, with a second cohort in January 2027.

CPPE North West – Autumn Workshop Update
The latest CPPE North West newsletter is now available, highlighting all upcoming face‑to‑face workshops (October–March), online sessions (October–December), extended programmes starting this Autumn, and new programme launches.

CPPE: Dermatology: An introduction to managing common skin conditions : CPPE has been updated and now includes a new unit on Lyme disease. This unit covers signs and symptoms of Lyme disease, treatment options, practical tips & self-care, differential diagnosis, red flags, and patient information. As identificationof Lyme disease is one of the referral criteria for the Insect Bite Pharmacy First pathway, this unit will help those who wish to know more about Lyme disease.
CPPE: Fundamentals of diabetes : This is the latest e-course to be added to the fundamentals suite of learning. This interactive e-course is intended to be completed over several weeks and explores
Unit 1 – An introduction to diabetes
Unit 2 – Lifestyle approaches to diabetes management
Unit 3 – Medicines optimisation in diabetes
Unit 4 – Complications associated with diabetes
Unit 5 – Holistic, person-centred care
Unit 6 – Working collaboratively to support people living with diabetes
Parkinson's: providing person-centred support : This is a short e-learning aimed to help pharmacy professionals with their support of people living with Parkinson's. Medicines optimisation to minimise symptoms and creating signposting resources is included in the programme.
