GP CPCS Training

The GP Community Pharmacy Consultation Service (GP CPCS) is now live in over 47% of GP practices across Greater Manchester, and more practices are expected to be going live within the next few months;

The CPCS provides the opportunity for community pharmacy to play a bigger role than ever within the urgent care system and aims to relieve pressure on the wider NHS by connecting patients with community pharmacy, which should be their first port of call and can deliver a swift, convenient and effective service to meet their needs for minor ailments or low acuity.

GMHCA have pulled together some recommended training for this service to help ensure all pharmacies are ready to receive referrals.

GMHCA GP CPCS Webinar

The Greater Manchester Healthcare Academy (GMHCA), CHL, Bolton LPC, and Greater Manchester LPC (GMLPC) recently hosted a series of webinars to provide support on accepting referrals, completing consultations efficiently and in line with local protocols, how to deal with escalations effectively and the sharing of best practice tips in relationship building. A recording of the last session is now available to view on our YouTube channel.

The session equips Community Pharmacy teams with support and guidance on how to successfully deal with patients being referred from general practice via GP CPCS.

RPS CPCS workshops

The Royal Pharmaceutical Society and the Royal College of General Practitioners are providing free CPCS workshops for pharmacists.

The workshops, funded by NHS England and NHS Improvement, via Health Education England, will help pharmacists to build their confidence and practice the skills they need to help people when providing the CPCS.

Participants will learn and practise new skills during the session, gaining confidence in performing clinical examinations and identifying red flags in consultations. They will get instant feedback from GPs and other professionals and the training will also help pharmacists to learn how to involve patients during decision-making.

To find out more and book your free place visit the Royal Pharmaceutical Society website.

Your LPC is working hard to support all community pharmacies and general practices with the delivery of GP CPCS and we need all community pharmacies to get on board and deliver the service according to the service specification, contractual requirements and locally agreed processes.
